A free web tool that generates realistic faces of people who do not exist using StyleGAN3, with filters for race, age and emotion, delivering 8 HD images per click.
About
ThisPersonNotExist.org is a free online generator that creates realistic photographs of people who do not exist. Every image is synthesized by StyleGAN3, a generative adversarial network, so the results look like real portraits even though no real person is depicted. It addresses a common need for placeholder faces — in design mockups, test data, avatars and presentations — without the licensing or model-release concerns that come with stock photography of real people.
The site works entirely in a browser, with nothing to install and no account to create. Visitors choose a Random Face, Female, Male or Full Body tab, optionally narrow results by race, age or emotion, and receive 8 images at 1024x1024 pixels per click (4 for full-body results). Clicking Reload produces a fresh batch, and downloads are free, full-size and watermark-free. The tool is run by ThisPersonNotExist.org and can be used on desktop or mobile.
Key Features
Pricing & Fees
- Pricing: Free; the site states there is no paid tier and downloads are not throttled.
- Commercial use permitted: The site says generated faces can be used for paid work, claims no copyright on them, and no model release is needed because no model exists.
- Platform: Browser-based only, with no installation; the same experience works on phones.
- Key limitation: Faces must not be presented as real, identifiable people — the site identifies this as the one improper use.
Who It's For
Designers use the faces in website and app mockups in place of generic placeholder boxes. Developers use them as test data for user lists and databases. Teachers and presenters include them in slides where showing a real person's photo would be unfair. Content creators and marketers use them as avatars or profile pictures. Anyone who needs royalty-free, license-clear human imagery without hiring models or signing releases will find the tool useful, provided the images are not passed off as real people.
